Other Jackson Attractions (on your own)

Downhill Skiing or Snowboarding – One of the premier ski resorts in the Country is located just a few miles from Jackson.  Jackson Hole Mountain Resort offers rentals, lessons, and lift tickets.  Visit www.jacksonhole.com for information and pricing.

If you’re looking for a cheaper day of skiing, head to the west side of the Teton Range to Grand Targhee Resort.  Travel time is about 1 hr from Jackson to the base of Grand Targhee.  Shuttle rides from town are also offered for a fee.  Visit http://grandtarghee.com/ for more information.

Snow Machine Tours – Tour the Jackson area on the back of a snow machine!  Tours are guided by skilled professionals and will cater to your particular interests.  Choose from a variety of locations including Togwotee Pass, Gros Ventre River Canyon, and Granite Hot Springs (includes dip in the hot springs!)  Visit Rocky Mountain Snow Machine Tours for more information.

37th Annual World Championship Snowmobile Hill Climb – If you’re arriving prior to the meeting, the town will be bustling with the hill climb at Snow King Resort from March 22-25th.  Some of the best snowmobilers in the U.S. race their machines to the top of Snow King trying to avoid tumbling 1500’ back to the bottom.  Visit http://www.snowdevils.org/HCSchedule.htm for more details.

Moose Hockey – Staying after the meeting? Check out some hockey at the rink as the Jackson Hole Moose take on McCall Tourney for 3 consecutive nights starting at 7pm from March 30-April 1.  For information on tickets, seating, etc.. visit http://moose.pucksystems2.com/.

Snow Shoeing/Skiing in Grand Teton National Park, Bridger-Teton National Forest, and the Jackson Area – These guided trips will provide you with a great outdoor experience in the heart of the Teton Mountains.  Tours are available for all ages and experience levels.  Group rates are available for parties of more than 2, so get a group together for a better price. Visit www.holehike.com/snowshoe.html and/or www.jacksonhole.com/lessons-guides/nordic.html for price information and reservations.

If you don’t want to pay for the guide, there are many great snowshoe and cross-country ski trails that are free if you have your own equipment and transportation.  Equipment can be rented from several locations in Jackson (including companies listed above).  If you decided to explore on your own, make sure you are familiar with winter closure areas around Jackson.  Much of the national forest is closed to human presence to protect wintering wildlife.

At Snow King

If you don’t want to leave the hotel, Snow King Resort has several on-site activities including ice skating, snow tubing, and skiing/snowboarding (at significantly discounted prices for Resort guests).
